God Watches Over Us

God upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry. The Lord sets prisoners free, the Lord gives sight to the blind, the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down, the Lord loves the righteous. The Lord watches over the foreigner and sustains the fatherless and the widow, but he frustrates the ways of the wicked. Psalms‬ ‭146:7-9‬ ‭

Tabitha is a single mother who has developed breast cancer, We have been praying for her treatments to be successful. Her third grade daughter named Nevaeh struggles with significant learning disabilities. We have prayed regularly for her to do well in school. We are grateful that she has made good progress this year. Your support of CCDC has made our ministry to Tabitha and Nevaeh possible.

I am grateful for all those who have supported and been involved with helping to serve our ministry over the past year. CCDC has been able to grow in reaching out to the homeless and low-income individuals and families in the Near Eastside community. In spite of the restrictions that we had to deal with under the concern for COVID-19, we have adapted and continued to serve the needs of people and share Christ’s love.

We have switched to carry-out meals,  and we have served each week over 100 lunches and over 140 dinners. We also have given out clothing, masks, hand sanitizer, and toiletries. In addition, we have started an emergency fund for those who need financial assistance.

It’s been very rewarding to experience the response we have received from the community members who come to CCDC. People have been so expressive of their gratitude for your generosity.

In a show of her appreciation for our support and prayers, Nevaeh gave Debby a ceramic angel as a gift. The angel was a wonderful surprise. Her gift means a lot. It helps to know that our love is being received and God is acknowledged for his response to our prayers.

Perhaps the angel is also a recognition that the Lord with his angels watches over us, and especially our children. It’s always comforting to know that there is Someone much greater than us, who is watching over us, keeping us safe, and listening to us when we pray.

CCDC seeks to convey, through our words of encouragement, our prayers, and our dedication to serve people’s needs, that the Lord is watching over us and can be counted on to be there for us all. Many who come to CCDC do not have family or friends to depend on for help or encouragement.

Your financial support and time spent volunteering enables us to assure people that God is watching over them and has not abandoned them.

May God’s peace be with you,
